How we write
The local/seoul editorial team makes practical guides for independent travelers. Quick takes and checklists are editorial recommendations, not guarantees about every venue or person. We keep longer context available under “A little more detail”.
Publication and update dates describe each article’s content. A visual redesign does not mean every venue, price or service has been freshly checked. Specific claims use the sources listed in the article; changing opening hours and provider policies should be checked before you go.
Corrections are welcome through the link at the bottom of every guide. local/seoul is a social matching service, not a tour operator. Comparison guides describe different ways to meet people; confirm current third-party terms before booking.
Photography
Photographs show the named places, food or objects, not local/seoul customers or meetups. Each one is credited beside the image with its photographer, source page and license. We use only photographs released under licenses that allow reuse, such as Creative Commons Attribution, Attribution-ShareAlike, CC0, the public domain, the Korea Open Government License Type 1 and the Unsplash License. Illustrations
Illustrations and diagrams in the guides were created for local/seoul with AI assistance in September 2026, using Gemini and Grok image tools, and each one was reviewed by our team before publication. They explain a topic; they are not photographs, verified transit maps or depictions of a particular business or person. No third-party characters, logos or artist styles were requested. Every illustration and diagram is labeled as such in its caption.
A like, without a login
Tap the heart if a guide helped. Tap again to undo it. We use a necessary, first-party browser cookie only when you like a guide. It lasts up to 180 days and lets this browser remember the choice. Clearing cookies or changing devices can reset that memory, so likes are reactions, not a count of verified people.
The server keeps a different one-way identifier for each guide and an expiry date. It does not store your email, Google account or raw IP address for likes. Expired likes stop counting and are removed on the next like update. Short-lived rate limits help prevent abuse; the daily limit lasts up to 24 hours in server memory. This feature does not share identifiers with image providers.
