Photo & Gift Program Rules

1. What the program is

The Photo & Gift Program is our way of saying thank you to people who actually meet. After a meetup arranged through local/seoul takes place, either party can submit a photo of the two of you together. Once we verify it, both the Local and the Traveler receive a small gift from Kohwoon & Company Co., Ltd.

The program is voluntary, runs during the pilot phase, and may be changed or ended at any time. Gifts are not payment for any service and do not create an employment or contractor relationship. These rules form part of the Terms of Service.

2. Who is eligible

A gift is available for a meetup that meets all of the following:

• The meetup was requested through localseoul.com and accepted by the Local through our acceptance link.
• The meetup actually took place in person, at a public place, on or about the accepted date.
• Both parties are in good standing (no active suspension or ban) at the time of submission and verification.
• A qualifying photo is submitted within 14 days of the meetup date (Section 4).
• Neither party has previously received a gift for a meetup with the same counterpart. Each unique pair is eligible once.

A Local may receive gifts for multiple meetups with different Travelers, subject to a limit we may set and communicate (currently 4 gifted meetups per calendar month). A Traveler may receive one gift per trip.

3. What you receive

Current gift amounts (pilot v0.3):

• Local: a mobile gift voucher (모바일 상품권) worth KRW 50,000, delivered by SMS or KakaoTalk to the mobile number on your profile.
• Traveler: a gift card worth KRW 10,000 usable in Korea (for example, a convenience-store or coffee-chain voucher), or an equivalent e-gift card if you have already left Korea, delivered to your email address.

Gift amounts and types are provisional and may change. The amount displayed on localseoul.com at the time you submitted (Traveler) or accepted (Local) the meetup request is the amount that applies to that meetup, even if the program changes afterwards.

Gifts have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and are subject to the issuing merchant's own terms and expiry dates. We may substitute a gift of equal value if a voucher type becomes unavailable. Any tax obligations arising from receiving a gift are the recipient's responsibility; we may be required to collect identifying information for tax reporting above statutory thresholds.

4. The photo

A qualifying photo must:

• Show both the Local and the Traveler (and, if applicable, the Traveler's companions) clearly together in one frame. Faces must be recognisable; sunglasses and masks may be worn but the photo must still allow us to match you to your profile or ID.
• Be taken during the meetup, at or near the agreed public place, on the meetup date.
• Be an original, unedited photo straight from a phone or camera. Cropping and basic brightness adjustments are fine; filters that alter faces, background replacement, compositing, or AI generation are not.
• Be taken with the consent of everyone in it.

A selfie is perfect. You do not need a professional photo. If a Traveler's companion prefers not to be photographed, a photo with the Local and the requesting Traveler alone is sufficient.

5. How and when to submit

Submit within 14 days of the meetup date. Late submissions are not eligible, except where we caused the delay.

• Preferred: open your personal meetup link (localseoul.com/meetups/<token>), which we sent to both parties when the meetup was accepted, and upload the photo there.
• Alternative: email the photo to [email protected] from the email address you used with the Service. Include the meetup date and the other person's first name.

Only one submission per meetup is needed; either party may submit and both receive their gift once verified. If both submit, we use whichever arrives first. Submitting a photo also confirms to us that the meetup took place.

6. Verification and delivery

A member of our team reviews each photo against the Local's verified identity, the Traveler's request, and the accepted meetup details. We may compare metadata, ask either party a short question about the meetup, or request a second photo. Verification normally takes up to 5 business days.

Once verified, gifts are sent within 5 business days to the mobile number (Local) or email address (Traveler) on record. Please make sure those details are current. We will resend once if a voucher is not received; vouchers not claimed within 30 days of delivery, or returned as undeliverable twice, are forfeited.

If we cannot verify a photo, we will tell you why and, where possible, give you a chance to resubmit within the 14-day window.

7. Use and publication of photos

By default, your photo is used only to verify the meetup and is stored with the meetup record for up to 1 year (see the Privacy Policy). It is not shown to other Users or published.

We may separately ask whether you would like your photo featured on localseoul.com or our social channels. Publication requires the explicit consent of every person in the photo, given through the meetup page or by email. Saying no has no effect on your gift. You can withdraw consent at any time, and we will remove the photo from channels we control within 10 business days.

8. Fraud and forfeiture

The program relies on honesty. The following are treated as fraud and result in a permanent ban of every person involved, forfeiture of the gift for that meetup and any other pending gift, and, where a gift has already been delivered, a demand for repayment of its value:

• Submitting an edited, composited, staged, AI-generated, or previously used photo.
• Claiming a gift for a meetup that did not take place, or that took place with a different person than the one verified.
• Coordinating with the other party to split or exchange gifts, or creating multiple accounts or requests to obtain extra gifts.
• Using a photo of someone who did not consent to being photographed.

We may also withhold or cancel a gift, without it being fraud, where a safety report about the meetup is open, where either party was in breach of the Safety & Community Rules, or where a voucher cannot be delivered after two attempts.

9. Changes and termination of the program

We may change gift amounts, types, limits, or eligibility rules, or end the program, at any time. Changes take effect for requests submitted or accepted after the new effective date. Meetups already accepted under the previous terms will be honoured at the amount shown at that time, provided a qualifying photo is submitted within 14 days.

This version (effective 2026-09-08) is the first stand-alone version of these rules; the program was previously described in the Terms of Service dated 2026-08-27.

These rules form part of the Terms of Service, are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Seoul Central District Court, except where mandatory law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
