Photo & Gift Program Rules

1. What the program is

The Photo & Gift Program is our way of saying thank you to people who actually meet. After a meetup arranged through local/seoul takes place, either party submits a photo of the two of you together. A member of our team reviews it, and once verified, Kohwoon & Company Co., Ltd. sends one gift for that meetup: a Starbucks e-gift card worth KRW 10,000, delivered to the Local's mobile number. The Local receives the gift on behalf of both of you — it is our thanks for the time you gave each other, and we encourage Locals to put it toward the next coffee or meal together.

The program is voluntary, runs during the pilot phase, and may be changed or ended at any time. Gifts are not payment for any service and do not create an employment or contractor relationship. These rules form part of the Terms of Service.

2. Who is eligible

A gift is earned for a meetup that meets all of the following:

• The meetup was requested through localseoul.com and accepted by the Local through our acceptance link.
• The meetup actually took place in person, at a public place, on or about the accepted date.
• Both parties are in good standing (no active suspension or ban) at the time of submission and verification.
• A qualifying photo is submitted within 14 days of the meetup date (Section 4).
• Neither party has previously received a gift for a meetup with the same counterpart. Each unique pair earns a gift once.

Each qualifying meetup earns one gift, sent to the Local. A Local may earn gifts for meetups with different Travelers, subject to a limit we may set and communicate (currently 4 per calendar month). A Traveler's meetups with different Locals each qualify separately, subject to review.

3. What you receive

Current gift (pilot v0.7): one gift per verified meetup —

• A Starbucks e-gift card (스타벅스 e-기프트 카드, Gifticon) worth KRW 10,000, delivered by MMS to the Local's mobile number on their profile. It can be used at the issuing merchant's partner stores in Korea and follows the issuer's terms and expiry. It is sent to the Local with the intention that the Local and the Traveler share it, for example a coffee each; the Local decides how to use it.
• Travelers do not receive a separate voucher. The gift for the meetup you shared is sent to your Local, who receives it on behalf of both of you.

Gifts are sent after a person on our team has reviewed the photo, normally within 5 business days of submission. Gift amounts and types are provisional and may change; the terms displayed on localseoul.com at the time the meetup was accepted apply to that meetup.

Gifts have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and are subject to the issuing merchant's own terms and expiry dates. We may substitute a gift of equal value if a voucher type becomes unavailable. Any tax obligations arising from receiving a gift are the recipient's responsibility; we may be required to collect identifying information for tax reporting above statutory thresholds.

4. The photo

A qualifying photo must:

• Show both the Local and the Traveler (and, if applicable, the Traveler's companions) clearly together in one frame. Faces must be recognisable; sunglasses and masks may be worn but the photo must still allow us to match you to your profile or ID.
• Be taken during the meetup, at or near the agreed public place, on the meetup date, with the place recognisable in the photo (a café interior, a street, a landmark or a sign is enough).
• Be an original, unedited photo straight from a phone or camera. Cropping and basic brightness adjustments are fine; filters that alter faces, background replacement, compositing, or AI generation are not.
• Be taken with the consent of everyone in it.

A selfie is perfect. You do not need a professional photo. If a Traveler's companion prefers not to be photographed, a photo with the Local and the requesting Traveler alone is sufficient.

5. How and when to submit

Submit within 14 days of the meetup date. Late submissions are not eligible, except where we caused the delay.

• Preferred: open your personal meetup link (localseoul.com/meetups/<token>), which we sent to both parties when the meetup was accepted, and upload the photo there.
• Alternative: email the photo to kwad@kohwoonc.com from the email address you used with the Service. Include the meetup date and the other person's first name.

Only one submission per meetup is needed; either party may submit. If both submit, we use whichever arrives first. Submitting a photo also confirms to us that the meetup took place.

6. Verification and delivery

A member of our team reviews each photo against the Local's verified identity, the Traveler's request, and the accepted meetup details. We may compare metadata, ask either party a short question about the meetup, or request a second photo. Verification normally takes up to 5 business days.

Once verified, the gift is sent within 5 business days to the Local's mobile number on record. Please keep it current. We will resend once if a voucher is not received; vouchers not claimed within 30 days of delivery, or returned as undeliverable twice, are forfeited.

If we cannot verify a photo, we will tell you why and, where possible, give you a chance to resubmit within the 14-day window.

7. Use and publication of photos

Your photo is used to verify the meetup and to promote the Service, and is stored with the meetup record for up to 1 year (see the Privacy Policy). It is not shown to other Users.

Submitting a photo includes consent, given on the submission page, to publication on localseoul.com and our social channels with first names only. This consent is a condition of participating in the Gift Program, and the person submitting confirms that everyone in the photo agrees. You can withdraw consent at any time by email, and we will remove the photo from channels we control within 10 business days; a gift already provided is not affected.

8. Fraud and forfeiture

The program relies on honesty. The following are treated as fraud and result in a permanent ban of every person involved, forfeiture of the gift for that meetup and any other pending gift, and, where a gift has already been delivered, a demand for repayment of its value:

• Submitting an edited, composited, staged, AI-generated, or previously used photo.
• Claiming a gift for a meetup that did not take place, or that took place with a different person than the one verified.
• Coordinating with the other party to split or exchange gifts, or creating multiple accounts or requests to obtain extra gifts.
• Using a photo of someone who did not consent to being photographed.

We may also withhold or cancel a gift, without it being fraud, where a safety report about the meetup is open, where either party was in breach of the Safety & Community Rules, or where a voucher cannot be delivered after two attempts.

9. Changes and termination of the program

We may change gift amounts, types, limits, or eligibility rules, or end the program, at any time. Changes take effect for requests submitted or accepted after the new effective date. Meetups already accepted under the previous terms will be honoured at the amount shown at that time, provided a qualifying photo is submitted within 14 days.

This version (effective 2026-09-09) replaces the monthly prize draw announced on 2026-09-08 with one KRW 10,000 gift per verified meetup, sent to the Local. No meetup had been completed under the earlier terms. The current version (effective 2026-09-10) changes the gift to a KRW 10,000 Starbucks e-gift card, meant for the Local and the Traveler to share over a coffee, and asks that the meeting place be recognisable in the photo. No meetup had been completed under the 2026-09-09 terms either.

These rules form part of the Terms of Service, are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Seoul Central District Court, except where mandatory law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
